  • How often does the board meet?
Once a month for 1.5-2 hours, either in person or virtually. In August and September the board meets twice in preparation for Pride Week and the festival. Meeting dates are determined by what best accommodates the active Board of Directors’ schedules. Currently, that is the first Thursday of the month, but may change.
  • Am I required to attend each meeting?
Yes, but absences are forgiven for certain circumstances. However, excessive absences will be addressed.
  • Is there any financial requirement or compensation?
Druid City Pride is 100% volunteer based. There are no financial requirements such as dues or membership fees. Druid City Pride may plan to make reimbursements in certain situations and circumstances, but these will be determined beforehand.
  • Am I required to attend every event?
Specific events do require attendance. These include: 1 fundraising event per quarter, Pride Month events (e.g. tabling at Pride Festivals across the state), Pride Week, and the Druid City Pride Festival. Attendance at other events is highly encouraged. Details about attendance requirements for these will be determined as the board of directors plans the calendar of events.
  • What additional work is expected?
It is expected that the board work together as a team outside of meetings and events to ensure the success of Druid City Pride. This includes individual, committee, or small group work such as: planning; scheduling; event set-up; sponsor, vendor and community partner communication; and other commitments as they arise.
  • What is the overall time commitment?
In general board time commitments average 10-12 hours per month, with June, August, September, Pride Week, and the festival requiring more than the average.
  • How long is my board commitment?
Board members are selected to serve a two-year term. Each member may serve up-to four terms, eight years total.
  • Can I serve as an executive officer?
You must serve on the board for one full year before being considered for an executive officer position.
